About eVisa application

Am I allowed to work while visiting Vietnam with eVisa? Show Hide

No, eVisa is a tourist visa for tourist purposes only. If the authorities or the police recognise you when looking for work or signing employment contracts under eVisa, it is very likely that you will get into difficulties. If you intend to stay in Vietnam, state your intentions by applying for a residence permit or similar.

Your first step should be to contact the nearest Vietnamese embassy and ask about the possibilities of a regular visa. The authorities can point out the correct application forms and steps you need to complete to apply for a regular tourist visa (as not every country is eligible for eVisa, it is obvious that there is still a conventional way to apply for a visa for Vietnam).

I lost my passport but i have a valid eVisa, can I travel to Vietnam? Show Hide

No, even though the eVisa is issued electronically and you will not receive a stamp for your passport up front, you will still have to provide a valid passport during your trip to Vietnam (for both, airport checks as well as border check inside Vietnam).  Make sure to apply for a new passport or a similar travel document.

My passport does expire during the next 30 days, can I still apply for eVisa? Show Hide

No, your passport needs to have at least one more month of validity to be able to apply for an eVisa. Since the visa is valid for 30 days, the passport would expire before the visa which would lead to a person being allowed to stay in Vietnam while holding an expired passport, this is something the authorities do not accept  (also because it would be difficult to travel back home without a valid passport). You should apply for a new passport in case you can not provide a passport with enough validity.
